I’ve spent over half of my 20 year career managing hair and beauty brands in the UK - ranging from both electrical and wet hair products, skincare and cosmetics.
I’ve developed strategy, written propositions, launched new products, made TV ads, built websites and supported sales teams.
I am absolutely passionate about the beauty industry and have watched the landscape over the last 20 years evolve significantly - especially in the salon channel.
As a marketing consultant, I’m now embarking on a career that affords me the opportunity to provide expert support to smaller, up and coming brands, who are working to become the next big hitter in the beauty world.
ghd - A Case Study
Between 2006 and 2012 I managed the ghd Brand and was a shareholder in the business.
During this time, the brand grew from being worth £55M to £300m and was sold twice to Private Equity buyers.
When I joined the ghd business, there was no marketing team. I was the first in-house marketer and my first job was to recruit a superb in-house marketing team.
Together, we established a comprehensive research and insight programme, appointed and collaborated with incredible creative agencies such as TBWA & RKCR/Y&R, and delivered campaigns using celebrities and famous photographers such as Katy Perry, Rankin and Ellen Von Unwerth.
I’m really proud of the work I did for ghd and the success we had with the brand.
Taking my knowledge of the salon industry to Nouveau Beauty Group
More recently, I was Sales & Marketing Director for Nouveau Beauty Group. Here I managed the brand teams for HD Brows, KB Pro & Nouveau Skin Therapy. I spent lots of time with the sales team, developing new sales techniques for an evolving salon industry and conducted a strategic research programme for the brands.
Now I’m a freelance Marketing Consultant
